Hannah is an expert historian with over fifteen years of successful and collaborative consultancy experience.
Film & TV Consultancy
Hannah's consultancy career began by chance in 2007 when a willingness to say yes to an interesting project meant that she was hired as historical consultant to The Duchess (2008). Directed by Saul Dibb and starring Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, Charlotte Rampling, Dominic Cooper and Hayley Atwell, this Oscar-winning feature film gave Hannah her first work with period dramas. Although a world away from the Oxford college where she was then an academic, Hannah loved the creative experience. From this first job, Hannah has since gone on to collaborate with many major productions, including adaptations, historical fiction, original drama and unscripted drama.
Working with Hannah
Hannah has experience of working with productions at every stage, from the earliest development before a treatment has been written to working with a writer or a writers’ room when a script is in development. She supports productions through all stages of pre-production, principal photography and post-production, including developing relevant content for EPKs and press releases. She has extensive experience of being on set and of working with actors, directors, ADs, costume and art departments as required.
Hannah has a reputation for being uniquely collaborative as well as highly skilled as a historian, working hard to understand the needs of a production and its many constituent parts and creative contributors. She knows a lot about history but is also approachable and generous with knowledge and information.
