Hannah is co-creator and co-host of the History Film Club podcast with historian and screenwriter Alex von Tunzelmann.

HISTORY FILM CLUB PODCAST

Launched in December 2020, the History Film Club is the club for people who love to talk about history on screen. In each episode, Alex and Hannah welcome an expert guest to chat about their loves, hates, and find out whether they have what it takes to become a member of the History Film Club. Their guests have included actor Stephen McGann (Call the Midwife) producer Jamie Glazebrook (Peaky Blinders), showrunner Jeb Stuart (Vikings: Valhalla), directors Joss Agnew (The Irregulars), Emma Holly Jones (Mr Malcolm’s List), Morgan Matthews (The Railway Children Return). Leading historians such as Amanda Vickery, Dan Snow, Suzannah Lipscomb and Sunny Singh have laughed, chatted and been welcomed into the club.

Since its launch the podcast has enjoyed fantastic engagement from its listeners. Its current Apple Podcast rating is 4.6 out of 5. The History Film Club has been listed in the top visual culture podcasts in most European countries and currently sits close to the top 1% of podcasts globally.

Hannah’s co-host Alex von Tunzelmann is a best-selling author and experienced screenwriter whose credits include Churchill, and Medici, Masters of Florence. The podcast is produced by Natt Tapley, double BAFTA-winning comedy writer-performer and producer, who has worked on high-profile shows such as Have I Got News For You, The Revolution Will Be Televised, The News Quiz, Tonightly, Gigglebiz and Dick and Dom.

Hannah and Alex also contribute to panel discussions together and the podcast team host live screenings and other events linked to period dramas and history on screen.
